Saving Alice is about Stephen Whitaker, his life, his loves and his choices. Growing up Stephen decides he will never be like his dad, so through working hard and earning good grades he gets into an Ivy League school. To top it off he is given a great offer to a New York law firm after graduation and an impending proposal to his love, Alice. But tragedy strikes and Alice is dead. Grasping to cope with all that's happened Stephen moves back to his hometown and marries his best friend, Donna. Soon they have a child whom Stephen adores but what he doesn't see is his life spinning out of control. Once Stephen understands all he has to lose, it looks over for him but this is where the story turns. I was hooked to this book but found the ending quite strange. Up until then the story was intriguing and very well-written the only problem I had at all was the ending. But as you know everyone reads different books for different reasons, so please do not write off this book because I had a problem with the ending, you may not have the same problem I did. The book is well worth the read.
