In the beginning of The Rescue, we find Anne Gardiner falling from a ladder into the arms of a stranger. Her unstable father encounters this man holding his daughter and immediately calls for a marriage. The stranger, Robert Weston has no choice but to go along. As this couple gets past this unusual meeting, they begin to learn about each other and their mutual love for God. Being in Collingbourne, England, they attend the same church as the characters from the first book in this series. Lori Wick does a remarkable job of intertwining the newcomers with the rest of the town so we are continually updated on the developments of the families from the first book, The Proposal. I found myself eager to pick up book three in this series, wanting to know what was happening with these beloved characters.
