The Proposal begins with a bachelor, Jennings, who learns upon their arrival, that he has been appointed the guardian over three young children. He takes the children to visit his sister and their family to seek help with raising the children. Jennings meets Marianne and there the story really begins. During the visit with his sister's family, Jennings begins to question his understanding of God and his need to supply more for these children.For the first book in a series, I found the characters delightful. Set in the 1800's, the characters are more simple and uncomplicated. As I neared the end of the book, I found myself eagerly anticipating not only the ending but also the next book in this series.
