In the second book of this series, The Guardian, Marcus O'Malley is a US Marshall assigned to cover impending judicial appointees to the Supreme Court. When his judge is killed, Marcus' job becomes the protector of the only eyewitness to this murder. The reader's intrigue in knowing who the killer is and then watching how the characters discover this fact is captivating. Because of their chosen professions, most of the O'Malley clan is involved in this case directly, which gives further sense of unity within this family. I love that the book starts just one month after the last book ended. This series is impossible to put down because all the characters are so true to life. Their emotions in each situation are impossible not to empathize with and it is this that drove me to finish the book in just two days.
