The Coming Storm continues the story of Dianne Chadwick and Cole Selby, as Cole has been away for some time. Through cold winters and many trials, Dianne is strengthened in her faith and resolve to do what is right. Cole battles to return to Dianne after spending time at home with his family. Friendships formed in the first book are reexamined, exposing the goodness found in humanity. Families are tested with death and estrangement, yet courage is discovered in the most unlikely places. Although the story skips a year or so between a few chapters, it was still an interesting read. The character development was enough to entice me to read the next book of this series.
