In the last book of the Coming to America series, Promised to Me, we meet a young woman Karola Breit from Ireland, who is summonsed to America by her previous boyfriend, Jakob Hirsch. The story centers on how miscommunication and assumptions can tear two people apart. It is nice to see again how simple life was in those times as this book is set in 1908, yet the same problems of communication we have today existed back then. Although the story is enjoyable and stands alone, I am very confused, as to why this is part of the series. None of the girls from the past three books are even mentioned in this book.
