Covenant Child begins with three-year old twin girls who live with their father and their new step-mother, Amanda. It turns out their Grandparents on their father's side are rich, but their father has never lived off that money, he always wanted a simple life. In a plane crash that kills their father, and both grandparents, the girls are ripped away from Amanda and placed with their biological mother's parents. The plot is all about how these grandparents don't care about the kids and how Amanda has been fighting all their lives to get custody of them. Kara and Lizzie grow up in utter poverty, fining clothes in the Goodwill trash bin and sharing one twin bed. The book moves quickly through their life, from age three until age eighteen. I felt like the book ended abruptly. I was disappointed that the story was not completely wrapped up.![]()
