The Covenant is a story of two coming of age sisters set among the Amish community. The author lends a unique glimpse into the minds of these two daughters as they are approaching the age to make their decision to unite with the church and do away with the outside world. One daughter is embracing her opportunity to follow in the traditions of this community. Yet the other daughter longs for what the outside world can offer her. I found myself so drawn into their story and at times relating to both sisters. Mystery surrounding other family members and unanswered questions into the lives of these sisters make me rush to read the next book in this series.
